Brett Family Isle of Wight

The mother of Annie Jane Buckett was Ann Brett (see below) who was born ca 1836 in Ningwood, Shalfleet parish, Isle of Wight. (Annie Jane Buckett married Edwin Smith - father of Maud Smith, the mother of Alexander Edwin Brock).

Ann Brett's father - Isaac Brett is (so-far) the earliest traced Brett ancestor of my wife, Jane. Isaac was born ca 1807, Ningwood, Shalfleet, IOW. He was married to Hannah Richards (b. ca 1805 - d. bef. 1881) on the 10th of February, 1828, at Brixton, Isle of Wight. The children of Isaac Brett and Hannah Richards (parents unknown), were:

1. James Brett - born ca 1828, Shorwell, Hants; married Charlotte Marks on 20th November, 1852, St. Michael, Shalfleet, IOW. In 1851, he was working for William Wheeler of Ningwood Green, Shalfleet.

2. Thomas Brett - born ca 1830, Hants.

3. George Brett - born ca 1832, Isle of Wight, Hants; married Charlotte Attrill on 26th September, 1853, All Saints, Newchurch, IOW. He was 9 in 1841 Census.

4. Ann Brett - born ca 1836, Ningwood, Shalfleet, IOW; married George Buckett on 21st April, 1856 (marriage registered at Newport, IOW). Ann Brett and George Buckett had the following children: Annie Jane, Jennet, Isaac H., Sarah A., Edgar E., Walter J., Georgena, William G.

5. William Brett - born ca 1838, Hants

6. Mary Brett - born ca 1841, Hants
