Eleanor Jean Gurney

Eleanor was born at West Covehead, PEI, on the 4th of December, 1896. She was married on the 24th of March, 1915, in Charlottetown to Abner Albert Meisner. Eleanor was the 'illigimate' daughter of Unknown and Susan Jane Gurney. She died on the 17 of March, 1965 at Stanhope, PEI.

Eleanor lived to over a hundred years. She and Abner lived in Stanhope, PEI. The Post Office was in their home for 25 years; she was the postmistress from 1939 to 1961. They were active members of Stanhope United Church. She was the first to be buried in the cemetery of Stanhope United Church in March of 1965.

Neither Eleanor Jean nor her parents are listed in the 1901 census of PEI though she and her mother Susan Jane, and grandparents Thomas and Susan, are living together in the 1911 Census.
