Thomas Langrell

Thomas Langrell was born 12 March 1808, Carlow Co., Ireland and died 19 July 1894 in Toronto, Ontario. He married Mary Ann Connor who was born ca 1819 in Co. Wexford, Ireland. Mary Ann died 26 February 1893 in Ottawa, Ontario. Thomas' parents were Richard Langrell and Mary Unknown.

He was a builder, creating stone mills around the Ottawa area (then called Bytown) and served as the Chief of Police for Ottawa.

1851 Census of Canada West, living in Bytown (now Ottawa), p 296, shows him as Thos. Langrell, builder, born in Ireland, Methodist. He is age 44 and is married. Wife is Mary A,. Langrell, born in Ireland, Methodist; she is 33. Members of family indicated are 4 males and 3 fermales. In the 1871 Census the family is residing in the SubDistrict of St. Geroge's Ward, District: Ottawa, Division 2. Thomas is the 'Chief of Police.'
