Ralph Richardson

Ralph Richardson was born at Old Byland, North Riding of Yorkshire, 13 May 1838. He was the son of Ralph Richardson and Ann Forster.

He was married in Helmsley Parish, NRY, England to Esther Green. The marriage was registered in the last quarter of 1860 at Helmsley, NRY. They came to Canada in 1853 shortly after the birth of Esther's illegitimate son, James Green, through whom I  descend. He was raised by Esther's sister and brother-in-law, Anthony Clarkson Dennis.

He was a member of a Scotch Methodist Church (though he is buried in a Presbyterian church cemetery). He was a blacksmith and wagon maker in Eden Mills for many years (W. side of Main Street, Lot 3 and also on Lot 1 Conc. 2), before residing in nearby Rockwood, ON. Ralph died 13 October 1906 in Eden Mills, Ontario and was buried in the Eden Mills Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

John Richardson b ca 1866, Eden Mills, ON - a wagon and buggy maker. He is age 15 in the 1881 Census; Wesleyan Methodist). he is 25 in the 1891 Census.

Mary Ann (Hannah Annie) Richardson b 19 Mar. 1867 - d. ca 1836; m. George Raymond Grieve: issue - Laura May, Luwella F., George Raywood, Morval Emery; Annie Richardson was 'a glover.'

Esther Richardson  b 1860 Eden Mills, ON - d. 21 Feb. 1953, Guelph, ON; m. Roland Hillis, son of James Hillis and Ruth Carter

Elizabeth Richardson b ca 1871 Eden Mills; was 9 in 1881 Census, Eramosa Twp., student; and 19 in the 1891 Census.

William Richardson b ca 1874, Eden Mills; was 7 in 1881 Censsus, Eramosa Twp., student


Ralph Richardson bought Lot 1 Conc. 2) from John Oulton and wife for $500, 13 July 1876.
