He was a Methodist lay preacher in Ontario, around Guelph. He was 20 at the time of his marriage; res. Farndale West. His father, Anthony, was a mason. A descendent recalled that he proposed the toast at John Denver's wedding to his daughter Eva, and went on at length from the Scriptures.
When the Dennis (Sr.) family arrived in Canada, they lived in Beeton, ON, in a barn (because there were so many children). Irene (Rene) Arriss was raised on a farm on the 10th line of E. Luther (14 mi. n. of Arthur), 200 acres. Pannabakers visited them there.
