David Kilbourn

David Kilbourn, son of Benjamin Kilbourn and Lucy Bishop, was born 21 February 1767, Litchfield, Connecticut and died 1847 in Scriba, Oswego Co., New York. He married Sarah Hannah White (daughter of Joseph White). Sarah was born 1772 in New Hampshire and died 1821 at Brockville, Ontario, Canada.

Children:

1. Whiting Kilbourn, b. Leeds Co., Canada W; settled in Gore Dist., above L. ON in 1816. He m. Polly Wood; children - Jared, Laura, Hannah, Jane, David and one or two others.

2. William Kilbourn, b. Leeds Co., CW. Settled in Scriba, Oswego Co., NY and d. there in 1847. He m. Eliza Lester and had seven children: Lester, Eliza Ann, Julia, Jane, Franklin Bricea, George. His second wife was Margaret Wickware.

3. Col. John Kilbourne, b. Elizabethtown, Leeds Co., June 1794; m. Elizabeth Baldwin, of LItchfield, Conn. in 1818, and has 8 children: Horace, Collins, Henry, Roderick, Mary, George, Edmund and William Price. At the commencement of the war betwen the US and Great Britain in 1812, he was a clerk in a dry goods store in Brockville, and was 17 yrs of age. He at once enlisted as a a private . . .

4. Polly Kilbourne, b. in Leeds Co., Canada West, m. Wm Henry Eastman, native of Connecticut. They are both dead.

5. Pamela Kilbourne, b. in Leeds Co., C.W., m. Amos Coolidge, and removed to Wellsboro', 'Tioga Co., Penn., where she died, leaving a large family. Her son, Amos Coolidge, m. Mary Kilbron daughter of the late David Kilborn, Esq., of Hector, Potter Co., Penn., and now resides in Delamar, Tioga., Penn.

6. Nancy Kilbourn - who m. Rowland Blackmere

7. Abigail, b. in Leeds Co., C.W., m. Truman Hurd, Esq., of Kempville, C.W. Their childre nare - 1. Henry, Bailiff of the Division Courts. 2. Edwin, formerly a merchant at Newborough, Leeds Co.; now in the US., 3. Alpheus, a lawyer; 4. Elizabeth. 5. Augustus. 6. Kilborn, studied law, but resides on the homestead in Kempville. Truman Hurd, Esq. d. in 1854.

8. Betsey, b. in Leeds Co, C.W., m. John Stone, of Scriba, Oswego Co., NY, where she still resides. She has a large family.

9. Catharine, b. in Leeds Co.; m. Hial Hurd, and lives in Elmsley, nr the Rideau Canal. She has several children.

10. Bricea, b. in Leeds Co., m. John Clothier, and settled on the Rideau canal. She has a large family.

pp. 169-170 David Kilbourn, b. in Litchfield, Conn., USA, Feb. 31 1767 m Hannah White daughter of Joseph White, a loyalist of New Hampshire, and settled on the Canada side of the St. Lawrence, a few miles below Brockville. his children were: Whiting, William, Col. John, Polly Pamela, Nancy, Abigail, Betsey, Catharine and Bricea. Though residing in the King's dominions, he was a republican at heart, and in the war of 1812, he engaged in the secret service of the United States, under the direction of Gen. Wilkinson, in consequence of which his entire estate in Canada was confiscated to the British government. He soon after removed to Scriba, nr Oswego, NY, where he continued to reside until his death in 1847. His services were acknowledged by the American Congress, and appropriations were made by that body to reward his for his services, and compensate him in part for his losses.
