George Wood

George Wood, son of George Wood and Ellen (?), was born at Hinderwell, North Yorkshire on the 4th of June, 1779 and christened there on June 6th. He died on the 3rd of November 1829. George was married to Ann (Nancy) Gatenby, daughter of Thomas Gatenby and Elizabeth Pennock, on the 2nd of February, 1819 at Danby in Cleveland, North Riding of Yorkshire.

Children of George Wood and Ann Gatenby were:

1. Hannah Wood, born 2 March, 1819; christened 12th of March, 1819, Glaisdale, NRY; died 11 November 1896, Cowl House, Bransdale, NRY; buried at St. Nicholas chapel, Cockayne, Bransdale, NRY. She was married to Newark Wilson in 1838 at St. Mary's Church, Whitby.

2. Ann Wood, born 11th May, 1820, NRY; died 27 March, 1846, NRY.

3. William Wood, born 14th of July 1826, died ca 1830.

Following the death of George Wood, in 1829, Ann (Nancy) Gatenby married John Hoggarth (christened 31 March, 1801, Egton, NRY), the son of Philip Hoggarth and Eleanor (Helen) Roe.
