Richard Linn

Richard Linn (or 'Linnes) was from Danby in Cleveland, North Riding of Yorkshire. His wife was Ephemia Hill, born 5th of January 1644 in Danby and whom the Danby Register records as having died on the 3rd of November, 1732 (Burial, Ephemia Linn, 3 die Novbri). Their Marriage in 1678 is listed as: Ricardus Lynn et Epham Hill 18th die Junii,

The Danby Register records Richard's death and burial as follows: Burials, 1729-31. 175 Ano Domil. 1729; Richardus Linnes 15 die Aprilis.

The son of Richard and Ephemia was William Linn (or Lynn). Siblings included Peter, Richard and James Linn, the latter of whose wife Anne died on the 16th of January 1743. James Lynn was a weaver; he died 1 October 1765.

Danby Register: Birth of Ephemia Hill: Ephemia Hill vidua V die Januarii. Her father may have been Edward Hill whose death is registered at Danby in the same year. Edwardus Hill paterfamilia (head of family) xxiij Septembris. If so, Ephemia's mother was Frances Gill as per the following Danby Register marriage record of 1614: Edwardus Hill et Francisca Gill xxvij Junii.

Another possible candidate as the father of Ephemia is Percival Hill who died in Danby in 1641: Persevell Hill paterfamilia.
