Alexander Brock (c. 1822)
Alexander Brock (son of Robert Brock (b. 1776) and Helen Reid) and Jean (Jane) McLarkin were the parents of John Brock (b. 1845).
Alexander was born about 1817 and christened 18 December, 1822, in Barony parish, Glasgow, Lanark County, Scotland. He was married to Jean McLarkin, of Barony, Glasgow, 7 March, 1845 at Barony. In 1851 they were living in the Civil Parish of Calton, Glasgow - on 50 James Street, Alexander is listed as an 'engineer.'
It appears from comparing the 1851 and 1861 Censues that Alexander was born in Glasgow, Lanark County and his wife, Janet, was born in Dunbarton County, Scotland.
Their children included:
1. John Brock - an iron-turner journeyman, he was born in Glasgow, 23 December, 1845; married to Jane Riddell on 29th of December, 1871, High Church, Glasgow. Jane Riddell was the daughter of Richard Riddell and Rachel Sinclair. She was christened at High Church, Glasgow on the 3rd of October, 1855. John and Jane were married at High Church, Glasgow on the 29th of December, 1871.
There is an 'earlier' Janet as per the following who was born in the Civil Parish of Cardross, in the Count of Dunbarton-
