Nicholas Smith b. 1679
Nicholas Smith was born 15 October, 1679, at Winston parish, Newchurch, IOW. He was christened 23 October, 1679, at Newport. He was the son of Nicholas Smith (c. 1641) and Frances Knight.
Nicholas married Mary Read (born 1681, Arreton), on 10 October, 1709, Shalfleet, IOW.
Nicholas died 12 June, 1735 and was buried in Arreton, IOW, and Mary was buried 8 January 1751/2, at Arreton, IOW.
Their children were:
1. Sarah Smith - born 11 March, 1710, Palmers, Whippingham, IOW; c. 20 March 1710/11 at Arreton, IOW - and died 20 March, 1710/11.
2. James Smith - born 7 August, 1712 and died 22 July, 1745, IOW (see will of James, below)
3. Nicholas Smith - born 21 October, 1714, Palmers, Whippingham, IOW and died 27 July, 1789, IOW; married Mary Salter in 1755, Newchurch, IOW
4. Richard Smith - born 21 March, 1717, Winston, Newchurch, IOW and died 6 November, 1789, Winston, Newchurch; buried 12 November, 1789, Brading, IOW; married to Ann Phillips 18 April, 1749, Newchurch, IOW.
5. Mary Smith - born 30 March, 1723 and died 13 August, 1731, IOW.
