Between 1841 and 1861 he was a Lace Maker in Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight. He died in 1886 in Gunville Lane, Gunville, Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight. Spouse: Jane WHEELER. William HAYLES and Jane WHEELER were married on 20 Feb 1824 in Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight. They lived in Trafalgar Place, Carisbrooke in 1841. William and Jane lived at Trafalgar Place, Carisbrooke with their children Alfred, Matilda and Emily. They lived in Gunville Lane, Gunville, Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight between 1851 and 1886. In 1851 William and Jane lived with Matilda, Fanny, Emily and Mary. They stayed in the same area and in 1871 William was a landowner. In 1881 he owned 6 acres and was a dairy farmer. 2. Elizabeth Hayles - born on 14 Feb 1804 in Newport, Isle of Wight. Spouse: William ABRAHAM. William ABRAHAM and Elizabeth HAYLES were married on 21 Aug 1831 in Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight. The Abraham family:-William was a clerk and in 1841 they lived at Trafalgar Place, Carisbrooke with their children Alfred William (1832), Mary Ann (1833) and Edwin Henry (1836). From 1851-1861 the family lived in Carisbrooke Road, Newport and by 1861 William had become a grocer. In 1871 they lived at 91 Pyle Street, Newport and William was a pork butcher. He and Elizabeth had their granddaughter Mary Ann (aged 10) staying with them. Nearby at 94 Pyle Street their son Edwin lived with his wife Celia (nee Jacobs; m.1865 St John's, Newport) and their children Alfred William (1865), George (1866) and Ernest (1869). Edwin was a carpenter. In 1877 his mother Elizabeth died and in 1881 his father William still lived in the family home and lived on income derived from rents. Edwin took over as a grocer and he and his family continued to live at 94 Pyle Street and the family grew with the addition of William (1872), Percy (1875-1875) and Amy May (1878).

6. Frances Hales - Frances HAYLES was christened on 31 May 1812 in Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight. She was born about 1812 in Newport, Isle of Wight. Spouse: John LEIGH. John LEIGH and Frances HAYLES were married on 25 Jan 1831 in Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight. The Leigh Family:- John was a policeman and he and Frances had John (1832), Emily (1834), Frances (1836) and Henry (1838) on the Isle of Wight before moving to to Golden Grove, Southampton by 1841 (transcribed as LUGH). In 1851 they lived at 11 Oriental Terrace, Southampton with John, Emily, Henry, Walter (1841), Fanny (1845) and Gertrude (1851). In 1861 John was a police sergeant and they lived at 3 Hamilton Cottages, Southampton and John and Frances just had Walter, William (1844), Fanny and Gertrude at home. In 1871 John and Frances had a grandson Henry (1863) at home at 33 Manchester Street, Southampton. After John's death later that same year Frances and Henry continued to live together until Frances' death in 1873.
7. Edward Hayles - born on 19 Oct 1813. He was christened on 28 Apr 1816 in Whippingham, Isle of Wight. 1851 he was a Labourer in Newport, Isle of Wight. Between 1861 and 1898 he was a Marine Store Dealer in Ryde, Isle of Wight. He died about 1898 in Ryde, Isle of Wight. Spouse 1: Charlotte JACKMAN. Edward HAYLES and Charlotte JACKMAN were married about 1845 in St. Paul's Church, Barton, Newport, Isle of Wight. They lived in Cosham Street, Newport, Isle of Wight in 1851. Edward and Charlotte lived alone. Spouse 2: Harriet MATTHEWS. Edward HAYLES and Harriet MATTHEWS were married about 1860 in a non-conformist chapel. Harriet had two illegitimate daughters, Mary Jane Matthews (b.1850 Newport) and Kate Matthews (b.1854 Newport) who were brought up by Edward and known as Hayles. They lived in Newport Road, Ryde, Isle of Wight in 1861. Edward and Harriet lived with her daughters and all were called Hayles. They lived in School Street, Oakfield, Ryde, Isle of Wight in 1871. Edward, Harriet and Kate (nursemaid) lived together. They lived in Read Street, Oakfield, Ryde, Isle of Wight in 1881. Edward and Harriet lived alone. They lived in Upper St. John's Road, Oakfield, Ryde, Isle of Wight between 1891 and 1898. Edward and Harriet lived alone.
