Harry Thomas Barnard
Harry Thomas Barnard (known also as Henry) was christened on the 10th of September, 1854, at Basingstoke, Hampshire (Hants). A painter, he died in September of 1897. In March of 1878, he married Annie Sarah Gregory (b. September 1856, Hurstbourne Tarrant, Hants), a dressmaker - in Basingstoke district.
They were the parents of James William Barnard. After Harry's death, Annie remarried a widower, Richard George Henry Brown - 23 May 1908 in Toronto, Ontario. He was from Lot 64, Oshawa, ON. An Episcopalian, He was the son of Henry Brown and Martha Leach. At the time of her marriage, Annie is said to be a Presbyterian, of Toronto. Her parents are listed as Isaac Gregory and Sarah Fisher.
Harry Thomas Barnard died in 1897, Basingstoke, Hampshire.
The father of Harry Thomas Barnard was James Barnard (born ca 1821, Southampton, Hampshire). He married Sarah Bargent (b. 1821 Basingstoke - d. Basingstoke, 1876), who had died by the time of the 1881 Census, as he is listed as a widower (daughter Sarah is living with him in 1881). He died in September of 1898, in Basingstoke.
Besides Harry Thomas, James and Sarah also had James William Barnard (christened on the 14th of March, 1852, Basingstoke, Hampshire - d. March, 1885, Basingstoke) and Sarah Barnard (born ca 1858, Basingstoke, Hampshire).
The children of Harry Thomas Barnard and Annie Gregory were - Annie Sarah Barnard b 1880, Cliddesden (m. William Fosbury (had bro. Percy) - Wm. and Annie had son Wilfrid); Harry George Barnard (c. 25 February, 1883, St. Leonard's, Cliddesden); James William Barnard (b. 22 December, 1884; c. 7th December, 1884, Cliddesden, Hants); Ada Mary Barnard (b. March, 1887, Basingstoke) - m. George King; Frank Richard Barnard (b. June, 1889, Basingstoke); Edward (Ted) Charles Barnard (b. September, 1891, Basingstoke), married Mary Unknown; Blanche Barnard (b. June, 1893, Basingstoke); Benjamin Frederick Barnard (b. December, 1895, Basingstoke); Alfred Barnard (b. December, 1897, Basingstoke).
(There is a picture of Annie Gregory who remarried Mr. Brown.) Richard Henry George Brown (notice name order change) who was born in England in February 1851 and died 21 October 1915, 64 yrs. 8 mos., of lobar pneumonia and Aedema.. Residence at the time was 163 Morley Avenue, Toronto. He was buried at 'Norway' in East Toronto, likely in the St. John's Norway Cemetery. Informant was W. F. Fosbury of 1421 Gerrard Avenue, E. Informant (Fosbury) was likely the husband of Annie (nee Barnard), sister of James William Barnard. (See below re death of Richard's brother, Harry, in WW I.) Richard is "R. Henry" in the 1911 Census.
