Joseph Bradshaw

Joseph Bradshaw was born 18th February, 1824 (?) - at Headless Cross, Redditch, Worcester, England - and christened that year on 28th March, at Redditch. He was a sailor who married a woman named Alice - born 1828, Hunt End, Redditch, Worcester. In the 1841 Census of Worcestershire, Joseph Bradshaw if age 15, in the Registration District of Tardebigg.

Joseph was the son of a Edward (or perhaps John) Bradshaw and Mary (Unknown). In the 1841 Census, there is a John Bradshaw, age 60 and a Mary, age 50. (John's birthdate would be ca 1781 and Mary's would be ca 1791).

(According to the Mormon IGI Batch record - J145251, there was a Joseph Bradshaw, christened 18 February, 1824, Redditch - son of Edward and Mary; and a Joseph christened 28 March, 1824, Redditch, son of John and Mary.)

1. Reuben Bradshaw - born 1857, Redditch; married Emily (Unknown) about 1879, Redditch; issue: Martha - born 1880, Redditch. Reuben was a fish hook maker. He is 24 (Emily is 23) in the 1881 Census - Ipsley Street, Warwick - visiting 9 William Street, the home of William and Sarah Dobbins. William too was a fish hook maker.

2. Caleb Joseph Bradshaw - born ca 1861, Ipsley, Redditch, Worcestershire (needle factory foreman); married Sarah Melvina Bennett (born ca 1847, Ducdley, Worcester). He is 20 in 1881 Census - Ipsely Street, Studley, Warwickshire; 39 in 1901 Census.

3. Edgar Joshua Bradshaw - born ca 1868, Redditch; married Sarah (Unknown). He was 13 in the 1881 Census - at Ipsley Street, Sudely, Warwick.

4. Martha Bradshaw - born at Redditch, she married a Mr. Dobbin.

Note:
Rev. Richard Bradshaw is the 5th great-grandfather of Sheila Farley-Comerford. He matriculated at University College, Oxford on 26 February 1732/33 at the age of 16 years. Thus he was born in 1716, the son of John Bradshaw of Warwick.

According to the Tardebigge Parish register:
13 January 1744 --- " Richard Bradshaw read ye morning and evening service the 39 Articles of religion and Bishops Certificate of his conforming to ye Liturgy of ye Church of England as by law established and after made a ordination of his unfiegned assent and consent thereto."

19 December, 1744 --- Richard Bradshaw, clerk, was inducted into Vicarage of Tardebigge by John Colborn, Rector of Ipsley.

By 28 April, 1769, Rev. Richard Bradshaw is the Vicar of Tanworh in Arden, Warwichshire. At this time, he, with Daniel Collins, Vicar of Claverdon and Edward Phillips, Vicar of Feckenham, testified to the worthiness of Rev. George Richards, Deacon, Batchelor of Arts ( who was later to become the son-in-law of Rev. Richard Bradshaw) for admittance to the sacred order of Anglican priests.
