George Donahue

George Donahue (or Donahoe) was born in Ireland ca 1807. He married Elizabeth (b ca 1801). George died January 10 1886, aged 79.

He was listed as a Roman Catholic in the 1871 censuses (Hastings Co.) though in 1881 his sons James and John are said to be Presbyterian and Methodist, respectively.

James Donahue - b ca 1833, Ireland; m Ann Jane Unknown; children - John Alexander (b 25 April 1859, Co. Antrim, Ireland - d 7 July 1836 Saulte Ste Marie, ON), Elizabeth (b Ireland ca 1861). John immigrated to Canada in 1870, age 11.

John Donahue - b ca 1835, Ireland; m Jane Unknown; children - George (b Ontario ca 1870), William (b Ontario ca 1876), Ellen (b Ontario ca 1876 - m Charles Weese), Nancy (b Ontario in 1880)

According to the 1881 Census of Canada (Sub district E - Madoc Township, Co. of Hastings), George is living with his wife Elizabeth and with their son James and his family, next door to John and his family (which includes Ellen who married Charles Weese).

Note that John Donohue named his eldest, son 'George.'
