John Hayes
John Hayes (born about 1785) of Manningford Abbots, Wiltshire, married Ann Hibberd, also of Manningford Abbots, 30 January, 1815 at Manningford Abbots. They were the parents of Ann Hayes who married James Newman. John died before 1841 (not listed in that Census).
Children of John Hayes and Ann Hibberd were:
1. James Hayes - born 26 March 1815, Manningford Abbots, Wiltshire (I believe James Hayes also came to Canada (settling next to the Newman and Almas families, as per the 1851 Norfolk County, ON, Census (Townsend Township).
2. Ann Hayes - born 10 May 1818, Manningford Abbots, Wiltshire
3. Avice Hayes - born 9 May 1824, Manningford Abbots, Wiltshire (note this name coming down through the James Newman line too - as Avis or Evis (Harmer). . .)
4. Emma Hayes - born 12 August 1827, Manningford Abbots, Wiltshire

In the 1841 Census of Wiltshire, England (Civil Parish: Manningford Abbots; Hundred: Swanborough; Reg. Dist. Pewsey; Sub Reg. Dist. Netheravon), William Hibbert is 91, pauper and widower. Ann Hibberd is reflected there as Ann Hayes, age 52, widow. James Newman is said to be 25 and Anne (Hayes) Newman is 20. Others in the same residence: Mary Hebberd (sic) 31, James Hayes 16, Emma Hayes 14. John Hayes has died by this time and is not in the Census of 1841.
